I've enjoyed this place since the old owner took it back. I hadn't read these reviews and am not sure I would have tried it if I had read them first. The cabbage roll dinner was excellent, that my friend ordered; and I do not usually like cabbage rolls. I had the spinach pie, which is better than the places I normally go for spinach pie. While I agree that the dining room could use a spruce up remodel, I know that many restaurants have trouble turning a profit. I'm glad this owner came back. It's a nice place for those of us who live in the Walled Lake area. I just requested a business associate to meet me there next Monday...so I HOPE we don't have any cleanliness problems or mishandling of food like some reported on these reviews. All in all, I think they have good prices for food that doesn't taste like fast food. As far as the service, I haven't had problems...but if I did I would point that out to the owner immediately and let them hire someone out there that cannot find a job. People who ARE working should appreciate having work and do their BEST, even if they aren't the owner. Better service = Better Reviews = More Customers = Better Profits & tips. I can imagine the owner spending money improving the place if he started making more money. However, the wait staff and cleanliness, along with the food quality are KEYS to success. I hope they read these reviews often...because it better be clean when I arrive Monday for lunch.

About average, ordered omelette with ham, bacon, sausage, onion, hash browns inside.... That DIDNT happen, everything was mixed up in the egg, hash browns were on the side and couldn't find but a couple bits of bacon, and just put some cheese in the middle and folded it... Sausage Gravy on the side was warmed in the microwave and wasn't made from Fresh ground sausage.... They made a gravy and put some link sausage in it.... Not very impressed... Don't know if I will go back....

I go here for breakfast, They use Dearborn ham. Great breakfast special for 2.99. Eggs, meat and hash browns with toast. Fast and friendly service. The original owner bought back this and it is better than ever.

This review is an amalgam of 3 times I've been to this diner. I had driven by this place at least 100 times and never bothered to stop by. This summer I decided to try it out. I ordered a couple of Reuben sandwiches. All I know was the price was good, the food was quick from time I ordered, and the end result was myself and my wife happy with decent sized portions of corned beef prepared pretty much how we expected. the second time I stopped by, a few months later, my wife again wanted a Reuben, and I accidentally ordered her a regular corned beef sandwich. The guy cooking, I think his name he told me is Doda, was able to rectify my mistake and remade the sandwich without any fuss. I was appreciative of his helpful attitude. I ended up ordered the Ribeye steak dinner. Overall the Ribeye wasn't bad, but it wasn't what i expected. The soup it came with was bland, the french fries weren't hot an fresh, and the steak was cooled well done, when I had asked for medium. It was still a overall good value of $11 I believe it was. Not sure I'd buy it again. Each time I have visited - I have done Carry Out/ToGo orders. But I've perused the diner and nothing seems to stick out as all that interesting. If you go to their website, it is slick and makes the diner seem interesting and maybe exciting. But what is presented in real life seems old, outdated, and looks like everything could use a darn good cleaning. I've only ever seen the one cook, Doda, and different servers there, usually one lady waiting tables. the clientele seem to be primarily senior citizens. And I've never been there at a time when it seemed busy by any regular standards. the Last and 3rd time I visited - I came in to get several orders carry out for myself, my wife, and her mom. I Really like their onion rings - when they are fresh. I opted for the 4 pc fried chicken dinner, with salad, and coleslaw, and mashed potatoes w/ gravy. My wife got her usual - a Reuben, another Rueben for her mom, and I also ordered several Coney Dogs for us to sample. The take out menu says they have cheese - but according the waitress that day, told me the menus are full of mistakes. That is not a good sign - in my opinion - for me it signifies a Restaurant that doesn't fully care. My understanding is Arta's has been open for well over 1.5yrs. Most places don't start to go downhill until more years have passed. I do not know the history, I do not know most of the people, I've only, almost entirely dealt with Doda, the "manager" and cook. There was not many people in this visit. Overall I spent a bit over $40 for my carryout. A few days later, I'm checking my credit card, and notice a $50 charge from Arta's. I know for a fact I never charged that much. My bill according to my receipt was for $41.08. I promptly called Arta's to talk to a manager. Doda, answered the call and told me he had noticed the discrepancy and asked the server about this extra money on my bill. HE claims the Server said that I Left her that money as a Tip for her. Right then I am livid - I NEVER LEFT A TIP. I ordered a ToGo order, and I paid the price that was rung UP. I had NEVER left a TIP for the server - BECAUSE the SERVER DID NOT DO ANYTHING to Warrant a Tip. I told this guy, Doda, This person is a Liar & a Cheat. And I demand that money Returned to my acct. I came by the next Day to talk to Mr Doda and get the $8.92 Owed to Me. I reiterated my frustrations and that I was still livid that this had been done. He feigned ignorance of the matter several times. He gave me $9 cash back to cover the Overcharge. I told him - If I ever come back here, and I may or may not ever come back, and if I see that Server, I will tell her to her face - She is a Liar & a Thief. I expressed to Mr Doda, that it does not matter if its a difference of a Quarter or a few Dollars - what that Waiter did was Unethical and Wrong. I expressed to him, the need to talk to his Employee severely about this situation. I Have no idea if ANYTHING with change. At this point I do not feel like ever eating there again... Although they do offer some decently priced, good eats. YMMV.

The food was okay, the service sucked! I don't know what this lady's deal was she acted very confused and ruined the entire meal. I had to ask for water 3 times, and I finally thought she was going to give me my water and she poured herself a glass. There was a table that even got up and left. She never came to ask how our meal was. If you see her working just leave.

Stopped by here quickly for a breakfast sandwich. Not only did I observe the cook picking up raw bacon and cracking eggs, then handling my toast, but I also had basically raw bacon on my sandwich and under cooked pancakes. Just hope I do not get food poisoning. They need a visit from the health department to fix some of the their practices.

Artas may have a new name; something like Artas American Diner but the food has not changed. If you love corned beef....this is definitely the place to go. Every day the corned beef is cooked in house. I cannot get enough of their corned beef, swiss cheese, cole slaw and Russian dressing sandwich. Sliced thin and piled several inches high along with the swiss cheese and cole slaw on slices of lightly grilled rye bread this sandwich is wonderfully flavorful, rich and chewy . It is the best corned beef sandwich I have had in years equalling the sandwiches at the famous Katz's Deli in New York City. In addition to the fabulous sandwiches, the selection of Greek food looks authentic and delicious and the breakfast menu looks divine. The portions are huge and everything is fresh. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner this is casual dining at its best. I can hardly wait to go back....often.
